Do you have what it takes to be crowned Star Baker?

We are calling all amateur cooks and budding bakers to take part in the first Burgess Hill Constitutional Club Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off.

Sunday 6^th July 2025  – show off your baking skills and help raise funds for Stand up to Cancer.  From cupcakes to cookies, chocolate cake to lemon drizzle, sausage rolls to cheese straws or even jams and chutneys – there’s a category for everyone! 

Wow the judges with your cakey creations and tickle their tastebuds with your tasty treats.  There’s even a category for bakers under 18! 

How To Enter

1. Register at the bar, pay your entry fee – £2 per entry – and collect an entry form.
2. Deliver your entry to club on Sunday 6^th July between 11am-12noon with completed entry form.
3. Judging starts from 2pm.
4. Winners announced at 4pm.

Judging Criteria

1. Each entry will be judged individually (not against each other).
2. One winner per category.
3. A panel of four independent judges will score based on:
4. Presentation
5. Colour
6. Texture
7. Taste
8. Bonus points for creativity!

Categories

1. Classic cake -. Victoria Sponge, Coffee & Walnut, Lemon Drizzle etc. Cakes can be rounds, loaf or any shape.

• Individual cakes – cupcakes, brownies, blondies, muffins, traybakes etc

• Fruit cake – Any shape, any fruit!

• Savoury Bakes – Sausage rolls, cheese straws, pies, cheese scones etc.

• Jams, marmalades, curds, chutneys  & relishes – any variety or flavour can be entered as long as it’s homemade.

• Juniors (under 18s) – Anything goes! Sweet or savoury, big or small – as long as it’s their own creation. 

Note: Any containers or plates left with your bakes must be collected by close Monday 7^th July.
